Luftwaffe Felt division jäger platoon, Chain of Command

I have painted a small platoon of Luftwaffe Field division light infantry. And when I say small I mean it... these are 15mm miniatures.

The miniatures are old Flames of War miniatures I had laying around from an Flames of War army that never was finalised. It feels good to at last give the miniatures the love they deserved.
They are now singlebased to be used in Chain of Command games.

The Luftwaffe field troops were air mechanics, airfield personal and such that was pressed to front-line service, a role they hardly were trained for and would often suffer horrific casualties.

Besides giving them Luftwaffe camouflage and blueish tinted uniforms I have painted their shoulder cuffs in bright green showing these are jägers, light infantry.

They were rather fun to paint and they will need some support if they are to stand any chances against their enemies. But I havnt decided on what to paint next in this project.

And acompanied the platoon is also a medical orderly, Im guessing he will have to do a lot of work on these poor souls on first contact with the enemy...

And best of all, a 15mm force takes almost no space.
Perfect for a smaller sideproject....

Chain of Command test game, AAR

We had a small test game of Chain of Command some weeks ago.
Two of the members of the club had played CoC before, but it was some time ago. I have the rules but have mostly watched battle reports on YouTube. Im more then sure we made lots of mistakes rulewise but we had fun nonetheless.

I had speedpainted up some miniatures representing a platoon from the 16th Luftwaffe Feltdivision to take part of the testgame.

This was a really fun game with lots of potential. Im sure that when we learn the rules properly we can speed up the gameplay and have even more fun.
Chain of Command seems to be a game that I could have lots of fun playing. And as we have decided to play it in 15mm we already have lots of old Flames of War terrain and I have a rather large Flames of War collection still Im sure that I can reuse the vehicles and maybe with some rebasing the infantry of heavier weaponry also.

It seems that lots of members in the clubs are starting to get somewhat eagerly to test something new, taking a step back from 40k or AoS and even if Chain of Command is not a direct replacement for those games Im sure this could lead to lots and lots of fun games.

Here are some picture taken from the last game we had in "Zettans", a local gaming café some time ago.

Pikeman´s Lament

I recently got hold on the rules of The Pikeman´s Lament and have just started to flick through the pages. This post is not meant to be a review so I will not go into details. I can just say that if you like the Lion Rampant rules you will not be disappointed.

When I first heard about the rules my initial thoughts were that this could be the excuse to get that force of Polish Hussars in 28mm with feathers and all that all wargamers dreams about...
I now realise (atleast now when I write this here...) that I have more project then I need so I have done an small inventory of some projects I already have in 15mm that could be translated to The Pikeman´s Lament.

But with that said, its not impossible that I just might start an 28mm project. I have always wanted to do 30years war but never took that step.

First out in fitting miniatures to reuse in Pikeman´s Lament is from my 15mm Great Northern War.
The miniatures here are initially painted up for Gå På but I never got enough painted to play the game with my miniatures.

Here under we have an Danish force of

* Guards - Shot, Veterans: 4+2
* Line - 2x Shot: 2x4
* Dragoons: 4
* Regimental gun, Field guns: 4+2

I got some Swedes painted up but not enough or not right configuration for this set of rules, but I got loads of unpainted miniatures left so that could be a future project to fix up.

Next I got is my 15mm French and Indian war project. The project was initially planed for Black Powder and I played some nice games with them.

I didnt have enough painted up to field an French force in The Pikeman´s Lament so that would be a nice future project.

But for the British I could come up with this:
Much more skirmishers then I would like but it is doable.

* 2x British Line - Shot, Veterans : 2x(4+2)
* Colonial Line - Shot: 4
* 2x British skirmishers - Commandet shot: 2x2
* Indian trackers - Commanded shot: 2
* Colonial skirmishers - Commanded shot: 2

So there you got two future project I just might reboot with these rules. Nice to already have lots of miniatures just waiting to get some paint, stuck away in a drawer...

DBA one day campaing

Last week we had a one day DBA campaign set in the ancient world.
I rolled highest and was given the option to choose nation first.
So I chose Libyans (blue on the map), I seems to have a thing for dessert tribes with lots of light troops. I would be in a real fight with the far heavier armies of Egypt and Hittites.

We went with the DBA version 2 as we havnt really taken the time to learn the version 3 of the rules yet.
Thomas had done a terrific job again with hidden objectives and things to drive the campaign forward.

The Kanites (White on the map) managed to get free from their oppressor the Egyptians (Yellow) as I managed to kill the Farao in battle and conquer their capital.
But this meant that all the land they had conquered before under the hand of the Egyptians now was truly theirs and they were a force to be reckon with.

 I managed to get 28 points in total and earning me a second place that I was more then happy with.
