Late night ordering..

While working on the final steps of my thesis in a distance course I have studied, one of many late nights resulting in that rather studied I ventured into hobby pages instead… One fruit of these late night purchase arrived yesterday…

I did get a little of everything.
I guess that’s just show that when put onto pressure, lacking sleep from all to many late nights in a row from the studies, disturbed sleep when you finally having gone to bed by the little ones,  you rather easily takes random small brakes into the world of your hobby.

But on the plus side I hope to have more free time now to work with all the late night purchases now when the thesis is handled in. :D

About the War-bases order, I got a little of everything.

Small round bases with the intension of maybe future 15mm Lions Rampant like games using the ideas originally from Michael “Dalauppror” but scaled down like “Mr.J” from http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=85854.0

Some small ladders and warmachines intended for my Crusading project.

Some animals both to the Crusaders and to my Norsemen.

A compass to games like Trafalgar and its like.

Some movement trays. 

DAK Panzerspähkompanie vs American Armored Rifle Company

My friend Tobias and I played a 1750pts game of Midwar Africa. He wanted to try out some of his new tanks. And I wanted to play with some new speedpainted SdKfz 231.

My small unit of PaK38 are ordered to hold the forward objective. This might not have been the best idea but with half of my units in delayed reserves my line was scrawny thin. As I didn´t get any infantry my list compromised mostly of armoured cars and antitank guns and artillery. I deployed the guns and counted on getting the cars just in time.
 

Initial enemy lines closes in tanking some small casualties in the meantime.

A risky plan that didnt work out, trying to take out his AA with a three plane strong attack wing.

 Somehow a lone PaK38 managed to knock out two Shermans and bailing another... Perfect.
A unit of PaK40 deploy from ambush and combined with my 88s American vehicles are being lit to fire. But will it be enough, enemy infantry have now dismounted their transport and are heading to the forward objective by foot.

The enemy moves forward assaulting the PaKs holding the objectives and things starts to look really bad for me. The commander of my PaK40 team moves forward but isn´t in reach of contesting the objective.
But luckily for me my Company Commander manages to get into reach with his small armoured car. Bying me another turn. In the meantime artillery, Pak40 and the dreaded Acht Acht are pounding enemy infantry at the objective. Some say overkill to blast enemy infantry with big guns but thats all I got.
Somehow my Company Commander did survive but being bailed out he could no longer contest the objective but by now my PaK40 platoon commander was in range bying me yet another turn of game play.

Next up I managed to bring forth some reinforcements, finally my armoured cars starts to arrive.

Yet another unit arrive from reserves, a PzIV platoon. Things starts to look really good for me instead.

 Enemy 2iC are disposed of and his burning jeep is full of holes.

My Commander has not yet managed to bail in again. I guess it takes some time getting all those maps together and sorting them out after all the enemy shooting.


And lastly my SdKfz 221 unit arrives to seal the deal. A Victory for the DAK, things did look extremely bleak at one time and not having any infantry to dig in on the objective might have been a bad idea. But reinforcements arrived in the nick of time and saved the day.

Fow, AAR

Tobias and I played another games of Flames of war, mid-war. It seems like ages ago we did and it was lots of fun.


I was to hold a village or rather two objectives in its vicinity. One small outpost with a tent and some spotters and one small oasis that seems to brake the rules of nature with its funky water level.

 The American onslaught. Mechanised American with armoured support.

First tanks arrives and tries to find a week spot in the defences.
 

I got a BF109 zooming in from the rear, the plan was to try to hit those tincans full of soldiers mounted up. A risky plan as they are filled with aa mg:s.

My guns open up and the Americans got a nasty surprise. I also revealed a unit of Achtacht...

But with just a small effect. I managed to nail one "iron coffin" atleast.

The air plane didn´t make it, a risky plan that didn´t succeed.

My PaK40 unit have taken up fire positions.

 Ahh... lovly sight.. Burning wreckage lit up the skies. Pak38, Pak40 and FlaK36 are making a mess.

Last two Shermans are in trouble... I finished of one with PaK38 and in the confuses I stormed out of my defences and took out the last one.

I love the smell of burning Shermans in the morning... It smells of Victory...

DAK reinforcements

These have been laying in my leadpile for over a year, I thought it was time to give them some love.

With the release of Perrys 28mm plastic ww2 miniatures and the rule set of Chain of Command that I read so much about recently I got the munches for DAK again.

To satisfy that hunger I painted some long awaited reinforcements to my army.
With a friend playing Americans in midwar I have felt that the PaK38 of my "early part of midwar" force didn´t  pack the punch needed to knock out those nasty Sherman tanks. Now I hope these PaK40 will fit the bill.

I also painted a platoon of infantry and a higher command team, the plan was to use him as my Second in Command in an infantry list.
The miniatures are a mix of Battlefront and Skytrex.
