Hungergames, African Palaeo Diet AAR

We had another game of Palaeo Diet from Ganesha Games. http://www.ganeshagames.net/product_info.php?products_id=327

We tried out the Hunger Games scenario. We did miss some details with the hunger rules but had a blast trying to get some food.

We used my Kushite miniatures from Warlord Games. Some better pictures can be fount in this old inventory I did years ago.

Both hungry hunters are drawn closer by the smell of blood.

A wild stampede brakes out and one of the hunters is trampled down.

The game scatters and the hunters pursue.

In the end we managed to catch enough game to fill the stomachs.

Palaeo Diet AAR

We playtested the rules of Palaeo Diet from Ganesha Games today.
http://www.ganeshagames.net/product_info.php?products_id=327

I have had the rules now for some time but never taken the time to get a game in. But it turns out it was really fun.

I press-ganged two members of the club and together we tried it out. Rather quickly we got the hangs of the basics and this is definitely a game we will play more of.

The two players were given three hunters each and six oryxes were placed on the table.

I gave the players the mission to kill three of the oryxes for a successfully hunt.
And the hunter managed to do this.

It was a real fun game with interesting gameplay and how the animals behaved and so on.
I can recommend it.

Scimitar oryx

Here we have some new African Scimitar horned Oryxes.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scimitar_oryx

The miniatures are the same as the previous post on the Gemsbok but I bent the horns a litle and painted them differently.

Oryxes

My African hunter-gatherers will need some animals to hunt...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemsbok

I painted up these Oryx/Gemsboks as I just love the look of them. They are so beautiful.
The miniatures are from Northstar

I now noticed that I had missed to paint the edges of the miniatures, this will have to be fixed.

The will join my older Oryx painted some time ago. http://kampgruppe-engel.blogspot.se/2013/11/gemsbok.html

African hunter-gathers and Paleo Diet: eat or be eaten

I just got the rules of "Paleo Diet, eat or be eaten" from Ganesha Games
http://www.ganeshagames.net/product_info.php?cPath=1_59&products_id=328
I havnt had time to test the rules out yet but flicking trough the pages it looks promising.
Its a prehistoric hunting game using spears, javelins, bows and in some cases fire...

I decided to set this game in Africa to try to reuse some of my "Tribal africa" miniatures. http://kampgruppe-engel.blogspot.se/search/label/Tribal%20Africa
And as I already have some animals painted up and some unpainted in the leadpile(leadmountain...) it is only good to shave of the top of unpainted miniatures....

But I wanted to have some dedicated prehistoric miniatures for this to so I used some plastic Perry Miniatures Sudanese tribesmen https://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_62&products_id=2593&osCsid=t3g5aenafta6r7fusn0185g4a1 as a base for convertion and gave them bows from Conquest Games plastic Medieval archers as I wanted to have some small game hunters with bows and arrows.

Pygmies, Tribal Africa

Ahh it feels good to every now and then pick up an old project and finish of some miniatures that have been lying in there blisters waiting for the right moment.

The miniatures from my Tribal Africa project have a special place and It would be fun to get the inspiration to really paint up the tribes and miniatures I got in my head.

Here we have some Pygmies from Wargames Foundry, I bought these and a couple of other miniatures when they sent a free pygmy with spears with orders from them. And they sent me an extra on top of that, nice.
They fit in nicely with their regular archers.

And I really need to keep in mind to use a darker backdrop on such dark painted miniatures. Let’s see if I remember that next time but I wouldn’t count on it Im afraid. The details are hard to see on these pictures, sorry.

I hope that this small unit can get me my Tribal Africa mojo back.
