World of Twilight unboxing...

I just got a box of Twilight miniatures...

So whats in the box I hear you say.

 Well... packing material.

And miniatures...
I wanted to have some special alien critters for npc:s or part of terrain scatter. Having looked at the World of Twilight (http://shop.worldoftwilight.com) for ages it was fun to finally get some. I dont know much about their actual game but it is something special about the miniatures.

And for scale, here is an 30k marine miniature.

Kickstarter deliverance - Astropolis II - The Galactic Melting Pot

I just got the miniatures from Lead Adventure Miniatures kickstarter Astropolis II - The Galactic Melting Pot.

I had told my self I would do kickstarters any more as they seldom keeps the expected timeframe or have some problems with quality and so on. But this kickstarter was exactly as nice as I had hoped and kept its time.

So whats the idea of this purchase then...
The plan is to add to the old lead mountain... Beside getting some fun miniatures to paint I hope to be able to use them as NPCs in games or maybe as officers and engineers in my 40k and 30k armies.

Carthaginian citizen infantry, unboxing

I just bought a box of Victrix: Carthagenian Citizen Infantry. Well technically this isnt a box, first time I bought plastic miniatures in an large zip bag. That works to, maybe even better really but I miss the nice pictures that a box usually contains.
Its 24 miniatures in the bag, of which 3 are from an command frame.

There are two types of frames, one command and the rest is for the regular troops.

Here is a close up on the Command frame.

There are three miniatures per regular frame, six heads, four spears and six shields.

But before anyone thinks Im going ancients... My plan is to use these in my Crusading project as a base for Berber infantry, with some turbans, new shields and maybe some more detail these could be perfect. Its all about the paintjob in the end.

Blood Rage kickstarter delivery

Yesterday a box was waiting for me.
The Blood Rage kickstarter had been delivered

Sorry for the lousy pictures.

Im actually more interested in the miniatures then the game itself and plan to use most of them in my Treemoss fantasy theme.  http://kampgruppe-engel.blogspot.se/search/label/Sk%C3%A4gglavsfantasy

Before bedtime I managed to get expertise help from the daughter. Admittedly I was about handing over a sharp knife to her before she would get to tired and a little unpredictable but it worked out great.

And she insisted to be part of the pictures.

Unboxing - Fireforge Games Mongols

I just bought two plastic boxes from Fireforge Games.

And no, I dont plan to start a Mongol army but rather use bits from here and try to create some Turcomans as mercenaries to my Ayyubid army, but more on that later. What Im here to post now is what's inside the boxes.

The contents of the sprues are rather similar as you can see here. The infantry box got more shields then the cavalry one, but one of the infantry sprues had the same middle section as the cavalry to act as a sort of command.

Im really fine with this and think its a smart move to produce more plastic kits in a simple way but I think it should be known to you.

In the cavalry box you also get 12 horses, one to each rider.
The horses faces looks a little strange to my eyes but its still ok.

So there you go, a small box opening on Fireforge Mongol/ Steppe tribe boxes.
I liked the boxes but think they could have had more variations on the parts. For example all the arrow quivers are identical with the same detail with the deer motif on all of them. The arrows in the quivers looks a little to computer rended with their perfectly same length and straitness.
I have started to glue some of the miniatures together now and will be kitbashing these to get a better Turcoman feeling to them but I think these will be a nice base for convertions.

Edit:
Here you can see the converted and paited results.

Hope this can help and inspire.

Unboxing - Fireforge Games Sergeants at arms

I just got some boxes from Fireforge Games that are intended for my Medieval Scandinavia project.

I guess lots of those boxes you all have seen on different pages over the net but this one I think is a little rarer. Its somewhat newer then the others.

The Sergeant at Arms box I think shares lots of components with their Mounted Sergeants box (http://www.fireforge-games.com/webstore.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=37&category_id=13)

The main difference seams to be that some of the horses have barding, the lances are exchanged to spears and crossbows are included.
I dont have the Mounted Sergeant box so this is just a guess.

There are components to build 12 Sergeants in the box, half of the horses have barding.
And their is enough weapons to arm half of the sergeants with crossbows or spears.

The most interesting thing to show I think is this sprue. At first I though it was a little bad that only half could be armed with say, crossbows but then it hit me that to build an army you will need more then one box of miniatures any way and I think that you could easily use bits from the infantry boxes on these miniatures so this will not be a problem.

You get lots and lots of heads... For 4 miniatures you got 10 heads and these will be most useful in my kit bashing and is highly appreciated.

Overall I really like this box and after I have glued it together I will still have lots of extra bits for the bitbox. So I am really happy with the content.

Massive Arabic reinforcement

I just got these boxes delivered to my house (amongst some more metal miniatures from Gripping Beast...)

Overall I really like them. Even thou I would have liked a smaller size shield or two and some extra bags or knives to kit out the miniatures with.
With 40 miniatures a box this is a massive collection.

But dont worry, only two of the boxes are for me. The other two are for my friend Johan over at http://ottocephalous.blogspot.se/ , the plan is to have some Medieval Middle eastern combat in the future.
So did I scare you with all those boxes...? 160miniatures in all...

Unboxing… Warlord Games

Yesterday I got this little letter saying I got an box to get at the ”postal office”. I put the daughter in the stroller and of we goo.

The plan was to fill up on the old lead and plastic pile, it could be a long and hard winter. Better bunker up.
The big box and is content is divided into three main projects.

For my Napoleonics I got:
A box of French Line Infantry. I wanted to test out the new Warlord box and ad even more variety to my Frenchies.
Vivandiere - The Soldier's Comfort. Could be a fun model to paint, a little different.

For my Vikings I got:
Harald Steptoesson, special edition Viking. How could I not want to add this model to my Viking collection.
A plastic frame of Warlords Celtic Warriors, to make berserker conversions mixing with Gripping beast plastic Vikings.

For my Tribal Africa project, the largest lot in the box.
For a new tribe I got the Kushites from Warlords, allies to the Persians or could be used on their own. Im not that picky about what year my Tribal African project is so I will mix heavily on miniatures I like. Besides its all spears and shield in the end, so theoretically my inhabitants in this project could have meet a tribe looking like this.
For the Kushites I got:
Kushite King and Chieftains, Kushite Command, Kushite Spearmen regiment, Kushite Archers and if my numbers are correct that should give me enough for 2 small spearmen units and a small archers units and lots of fun characters to use in Hail Caesar.
I got an box of Married Zulu Regiment, wanting to expand on my Zulus as the Unmarried box I got at home was so good.
I got and box of Perrys plastic Mahdist Ansar, it’s a nice box for this project and I wanted to try to add my numbers of tribals but also wanted to try to convert some trackers or skirmishers.

And a box wirespears and some more round bases.

This should at least have me occupied for this weekend… Well for a long time I hope. So now I think you know my plan for some time to come. We will see how well I can keep it.

Shaltari, Dropzone Commander

Dropzone Commander from Hawk Wargames.

So I posted some pictures from Salute 2012 of this new game on my gaming clubs forum and the ball started rolling… The miniatures are spectacular and it’s a fresh breeze on the gaming heaven.
Some friend got each an starting army and have played some games at the club. The little I have seen so far looks promising.

But with a new game there are so many options, what team to start collecting and what color scheme to choose for them.
I ended with the Shaltari as no one had chosen them yet and I thought you could really go bananas with the painting on some aliens.

The plan is to paint the Shaltari to look like some deep-sea creature. So white with some blue/red/green is the plan. We will see how that turns out.

Enough with my babbling and to the pictures…
It just arrived today, my Shaltari force.
I got an large premium army and some blisters.

So here is a small unboxing with some pictures. More pictures later on when I have started to assembly some or have some painted.
