Rune stones

One thing I am really lacking in this project is fitting terrain. On simple way to get the right feeling was to get me some rune stones from Fenris Games.
http://www.fenrisgames.com/shop.html#!/~/category/id=2202358&offset=10&sort=nameAsc
Damn quick service and very nice prices for such a nice terrain piece. Highly recommended.
I painted them lightly gray and gave them bases to make them more stable on the gaming table.

One really funny thing with these rune stones are that Fenris Games made them after real Swedish rune stones. Always nice when a manufacturer make that little extra effort.

Tomtar och troll

We got a new game of `Tomtar och troll´ a couple of days ago at the club. Unfortunately the only pictures I got is these crapy ones from my crapy camera… Barely even worth posting to be honest, sorry for that.

The game itself was fun.

The Priest supported by some small children assaulted the slaves from the other Viking chiefdom and scared them of the gaming table but a homecoming band of Varängers massacrated them in return.

Poor Gnomes was seen smashed to a pulp by Goblin berserking Bonebacks and trolls run amok.
Some nice gaming moments.

Next game I have to get better pictures.

New Bondi

Some new Bondi from Gripping Beast.

I tested a new technique with a brown primer instead of the usual white. I thought I could get some brown leather on these for "free" because of this.
For miniatures with much brown on them this could maybe work. I haven’t decided or evaluated on this technique enough for a final verdict but as the pictures shows it is a possible way of painting.

Here be trolls…

Freshly painted trolls. I chose to go with lots of brown and green and natural colors to make them blend into a forest environment.
I wanted an image of that if they stood completely still no one would notice a troll in a forest.
But if you looked closely you could see what was hiding there.

I thought about giving them bigger noses and a tail in greenstuff (Why do all miniature makers miss tails on their trolls ?) but ended up skipping that as the miniatures are almost perfect for what I’m after without bigger noses and a tail could be hidden under the clothes.

Armed monks

Following the religious tumult and the findings of empty monk robes, gnawed bones and large pieces of droppings. Some monks have started to take to arms.
Surely this is the work of the fallen angel to try to scare them away from this holy task of Christianize the Norsemen.

For it cannot possibly be the work of someone or something else can it?

The miniatures are from Gripping beast.
