Pork

The last trollgames made me think I might need more objective markers and as I had these pigs in my leadpile, why not paint them up.

The pigs are from Architects of war I think, Warlord Games use to sell them.
I think they are a of a little to modern breed to fit my Treemoss fantasy project perfect but they will do.

With Gubbspel Galore IV less than a week from now  I better finish all the half painted miniatures and concentrate on scenarios and reread the rules.

Troll raid on a Tomte settlement. Part 2

Here are the pictures from game two we had. With slighly less trolls (and players this time) and with a litle more gnomes. The table was rearanged a litle just for fun to.

Two of the trolls was to try to attack the village from behind and one from the front.

The shetroll can be seen at the end of the road. Closing in on some ill prepared gnomes.

Gnome sentries tries to stop the trolls before she can enter the village.

 There was no survivors.

The gnomes working the fields are quick to mobilize.

Running past all the gnomes this troll had his sight set on the pork.

Gnomes try to stop the troll.

A blunder result made the troll run straight into a small unit of gnomes hiding in the forest, instead of running to the pigs as the intension was.

Little Joms didn´t even reach to the knees of the big troll about to climb over the fence. What would he do, what could he do barely a feat tall against a Bergatroll.

Meenwile the farmers gathered in the fields cought up with the first troll and manages to scare it away.

They then attack the big troll.

Winning yet another combat, pushing him away to.

Having pushed away two of the trolls they then turn their attension on the old rivertroll.

She was not so easely scared and their numbers starts to dwindle. Leaving just one tomte left before also he got beaten up.

Last picture, game over.
Two of the gnomes that been hiding in the pigsty emerges to combat the trolls. Poor little Joms has seen all the carnage and is slowly backing away but he haven’t fled the field.

After the game we talked about if the gnomes could wake up the humans sleeping in their houses, how they could do it and how thought a newly woken Norsemen would be.

Thanks for waching.

Troll raid on a Tomte settlement.

Troll raid on a Tomte settlement.

This Tuesday we test played a special set of modification rules to Hail Caesar resulting in this raid on a small Tomte settlement.
The rules worked far beyond my expectations and was lots of fun for all players.
The idea was that each player controlled one troll. And gave that troll orders as usual in Hail Caesars.
But each troll had to roll on the blunder table on 10+ instead of the usual double sixes as usual.

The gnomes had 1 in all stats and are removed on one damage.
The gnomes acted according to a chart, they rolled a dice and added one for each gnome in that group. I will go into detail about the rules in a later post after I had some time tinkering with the stats.
The result none the less was that the gnomes acted somewhat believable under such an event as a troll attack on some farmers.

One point was awarded for each gnome wacked and five points for capturing a pig.

Here are some pictures from the first raid.

At first the white markers was used to represent gnomes but this idea was later abandoned.

First troll charge a gnomish guardpost.

Lumbering out of the forest carrying a big club to wack some gnomes.

There was not much left of this poor gnome...

The playtesters.

After trying to climb over the wall to grab some piggies this troll instead blundered resulting in that the troll fled in full panic.
Im guessing he thougt pigs looked likes bunnies and got scared when he realised how they looked.

 More gnomewacking.

After demolishing the pigpen some infighting starts over the pigs and one player decides to wack a troll istead and thus hindering him to get more points.

Once again this troll paniced when he tries to grab a pigg and starts running the other way.

One pig and two trolls... Both of them hungry and carriying weapons...
A bad combination.

The winner of the first test fight was Thomas, he managed to wack a considerable number of gnomes on the way to the pigs and won when he managed to grab a pig and run over the board edge.

A very big thanks for all that wanted to testplay this. And after some more tinkering with stats and some rules I will share those with anyone wanting to try them out.

Tiny Terrain

I just got these beauties from Tiny Terrain.

My friend Jonathan has taken the step of open up a terrain making company and I thought I should test what he could make and made an order.

I wanted some bases for DBA, some multibases for Hail Caesar or Black Powder as well as some movement trays.

As this is a new company he don’t got that many different products yet but are working hard to expand this.

He was more than willing to make some special items in mdf for me according to my special wishes. As he told me, every item he had made drawing or prints he could make many more later on.

One of the special items was these movement trays for an 16man unit for Hail Caesar and the interior space could be made into 80x40mm and two 40x40mm bases.
And I wanted a smaller variant for a “small unit” of 8man giving a movement tray and two 40x40mm bases to fit there in.

Im really impressed by these and got more ideas I think Jonathan will have to construct for me later on…

So please visit his newly started terrain blog http://tinyterrain.blogspot.se/

And If you want to buy some things or got product ideas do contact him on   “Info(at)tinyterrain(dot)com”
Im sure he is more then happy to help you out.

Support the little Swedish guy and help him expand and supply us with nice terrain. :)
