Solar Auxilia Companion Section, kitted for demolishing WIP

 

I had a blast painting the new Aethon Heavy Sentinel and thought It was time to give my Solar Auxilia another batch of love...

Here we have some Work in progress shots on a unit of a Companion Section. These here are kitted for demolishing with lots of meltabombs and meltaguns in their arsenal.

The Solar Auxilia Comanions are a pointwise expensive but a strange and interesting choice. These gritted veterans are WS,BS 4, 2 Wounds with 4+ armour and are all given refractor fields given them a 5++ save. A strange unit indeed.
All with meltabombs I hope they will blow shit up...

I kittbashed the new standard Solar Auxilia trooopers with old and new Cadian bits, Marine weaponry, greenstuff and cossack heads from Puppetwars.

Solar Auxilia Aethon Heavy Sentinel

 

I have painted the new Aethon Heavy Sentinel for my Solar Auxilia and it was a really fun miniature to paint, and Im really tempted to get another just for the paining alone.

I wanted a really gritted and veteran looking vehicle, that have been out in the fields a lot. I wanted it to look old and used. And I think it turned out great.

Rulewise Im not that sure... It can take a beating with T6 and 2+ save but with BS of 3 it cant hardly hit the enemy in standard basic human fashion.
It feels like its really under equipped, the cost to upgrade the weapons I feel is to mutch for a weapon that miss half of the time. Maybe they should have upgraded the weapons to the Gravis variants for the extra attacks.

But I really like the look of the new Heavy Sentinel, its one chunky boy.

Here we have the extra weapons that you can switch around with.

Here we have it in a anti tank role with four hunterkiller missiles and with the new melta lance.

Here we have my Aethon Heavy Sentinel supporting some Veletaris, shown together here for scale.

More Ellyrion Reavers

I have painted another unit of Ellyrion Reavers. I just love these models and think they look good.
But there are lots of steps to paint them so they are not the most time effective unit to paint.

For this unit I went with a slightly more purple tint to them.

Together with my previously painted unit I got a small patrolling force in the making.

 

High Elves Ellyrian Reavers

 

 

There have been lots of talk about Warhammer the Old World amongst some of my friends and I thought I should tag along on this venture.
I have a large collection of old High Elves that I intend to slowly repaint.
First out is a small unit of Ellyrian Reavers.

Colourwise I went for a white and blue scheme to make a somewhat ethereal feel.
Looking at the colourwheel I get a really blue/purple theme and to balance it up I wanted red jewelry and green grass bases with some added red to symbolize flowers.

The miniatures are mostly stock but I added a trumpet to make a musician from some medieval bits I had laying around.

 

And for the main inspiration of colour selection I used the picture below.
I dint nail it perfectly but was close enough so I am more then happy.
