Outskirts of the village of Talwasa, Parvana Mahrukh System. Horus Heresy campaing game 11 - Warhammer 40k Apocalypse

 

This will be the 11 game in the Parvana Mahrukh campaign.

The Eastern Fringe Trading Company are trying to brake through the outskirts of the village of Talwasa.

In previous battles have we seen the Eastern Fringe Trading Company trying to smash through the village of Talwasa to reach the large planes behind. Using the open landscape for faster movement and the ability to wrap around.

In game 9 we saw them use armour to brake the fortified lines of the Expeditional Protection Force.

In game 10 the Eastern Fringe Trading Company tried to clear out the village with small scale infantry assaults.

In this game we will see the Eastern Fringe Trading Company gathering for an armoured push through the suburbs on the far side of the village of Talwasa to get to the open spaces as mentioned above.
The Expeditional Protection Force saw what was about to happen and quickly moved an reinforced mechanised force with a armoured force in its heel to block this from happening.

But the Eastern Fringe Trading Company have and ace up its sleeve...
They have escalated the conflict by involving a Knight house to assist their Solar Auxilia forces.


For this game we tested the Warhammer 40k Apocalypse rules.
Håkan and I took our regular forces and our friend Erland would field his Knight House in this game.
Only Håkan had any experience with the Apocalypse rules and would guide us on the rules. And for this game we would use some house rules if I remember correctly as an example, alternate activation.

Erlands Knight House would reinforce my army in turn to and Håkans armoured forces would also enter in turn two.

Erland had to call it quit and Håkan and I decided to end the game for us to.
So with one knight down, one heavily damaged and lots of casualties on both sides we zoom out of the battlefield with the final results of the battle unknown.
 
All in all I think we all liked the simplified rules of Apocalypse and I am more then happy to play more games of it to try it out even more.
It might not have the details of some other rules but this is by intend to slim it down, to speed up larger games.

Alpha Legion Champions

In the last edition of Horus Heresy I toyed with the idea of having two Champions in a list for my Alpha Legion. playing the whole duality of Alpharius-Omegon in a mini format. One Champion is right handed and the other one left handed.
I got two large Eldar swords that I think was from some Wraith Guards to represent their paragon blades. The plan was to have two Recon squads, each riding in a Storm Eagle with a Champion to give them a punch.
That idea never materialized but I never dropped it, kept it back in my mind.

So with the new edition I thought it was time to start working towards this idea.
I ended up giving each Champion Tartaros Terminator armour because its the best looking armour in my opinion. I hope I didnt end up mess up my idea with them joining Recon marines by this, I dont know the rules good enough to know if I messed up here. But I think its no problem.
I changed the front of the torso armour to some Blood angles bits, to give then the whole ancient Greek muscle armour. I gave them specific Alpha Legion helmets and some shoulder pads from Scibor miniatures that had some Greek letters that Alpha Legion uses.

As I wanted the paragon blades as Xenos-tech I painted them "wrong", some kind of alien crystal blade. The colours is not the typical choice for this model, I wanted them to pop, to stand out, to make them draw the attention.

If there are some rule or mechanic I have missed that dont let me have them join a Recon squad I can allways have them accompany regular Terminators....

Alpha Legion Tartaros Terminators

With the Horus Heresy 2.0 edition new weapon options seems interesting for me.
So here are some more Tartaros pattern Terminators for my Alpha Legion to supplement the my collection.

First up we have the Power lance, or power spear. Its made by attaching with a metal pinning a bayonet from the mk VI power armour kit onto a spear from Fire forge games.

Next up is some dual power claw wielding dudes...

Here with a banner, vexilia. A power sword and a double power claw.

The new lot, picture taken with less sun glare then the above picture.

The Vexilia is from I think was old Dark Eldar bits. I think its part of a trumpet/ horn like musical instrument if I recall correctly.

I think his scaled shoulderpad was from Scibor Miniatures, a "not Salamander" bit.
