Ila tribe, tribal africa

I felt it was time for a new tribe for my Tribal Africa side project.
And here we have the Ila, the miniatures are sold by Northstar miniatures and I really liked the large spears and the large hairdo that make them stand out in the large elephant grass helping to orientate and to keep the units in line.

Turnip terrain

 
I call these done now.
They were really fun to build.
The rounded edges and lines. They look like they are taken right out of a Tim Burton movie.

These buildings are meant to be used in Turnip 28.
I wanted them to be built on a raised base to get the proper building above ground to keep it from getting wet from flooding.

And here with some miniatures for scale or get a better feeling, to give the pictures some more life.

Simians

 

I just fell in love with these Simian miniatures from Lucid Eye when they released them and finally I couldnt resist them and bought me some...

Ive seen some people paint them with markings like ive done here and I really liked that idea.
It shows that these simians are smarter then first persevered, that they are highly intelligent with a sense of art or style.

My plan is to use them in a primitive hunting game like Paleo diet.

Augsburg Infantry Regiment, 30 years war - Epic Battle Pike and Shot

 

So my friend Tobias and I talked about Warlord Games, Epic Battles games. We looked at both their Napoleonic game and their 30 years war game.
Tobias bought the rules of Pike and shot and one box of 30 years war infantry and I bought one of the regiments from him.
We have by no means "committed" to this yet. This is just for testing out, get a feeling the painting.
I think I like this scale, was rather fun to paint and the scale is perfect for another sideproject.

The question is 30 years war or Napoleonics?

Turnip 28 - Observation Balloon Work in progress pictures

 
I got some questions about my balloon so I thought I should post some work in progress picture from the building of it.

Im not sure about the correct english word for it but the balloon sphere is made from some kind of polystyrene I bought from a arts and craft store. I covered it all in woodglue and art wrapping paper for the texture.

The basket underneath is made out of a cardboard frame covered in a jute ribbon from an gardening store.

I then added some "rope" threads and some twisted metal wires to let it be able to "float" above in the air...

I primed it with my airbrush before painting it.
