High Elves - Ships Company

 

In the Arcane Journal book for the High Elves there were a new unit entry, a ships company.

I fought that looked like a fun unit I didnt have so I thought I should get some. They are unique for the Sea company list but I guess that I will have to test them out in the future.

The soldiers have basic elven stats, starts with warbows that can be exchanged for spears and a shield for a cost and they can be upgraded with light armour.

As of the 1.5 faq or whatever it was, spears seems to be rather useless now with infantry already fighting in an extra rank I didnt bother to give them spears model wise as I dont have the numbers to fight in three ranks. This gives me a unique High Elf unit with swords and shields.

The miniatures are Outmarks Light Infantry elves out of the box with the except that I gave one of the miniatures an horn to blow in from an plastic viking to act as musician.
The miniatures dont have any armour and I think its nice to have another unique unit in contrast to the regular militia spearmens that have that included.
Then maybe a light armour could be worth the cost in a handweapon and shield unit but atleast I save some small points.

I like the miniatures, and with the capes I think they looks great as a ships company with a cloak for protection against the weather.

For the painting I went with grey as the base tone and with some blue and white to give them that High Elf theme. With the shields I added some turquoise to make them pop.

These are all miniatures from one box and I still got a handfull left that I intend to convert to some civilian elves.
Scalewise they works great for Warhammer.
