Saracen army

Before a big battle last Thursday I took some armyshot, pictures of my Saracen army.

Its a nice way to really appreciate what you got, to let them all be on the same table at the same time. And its nice to see the progress since last time I did this sort of armyshot.

But I must say that the 180cm wide table look a bit crowded.
I must start deploy in depth and keep adding more miniatures...

My own thought is that I should really try to ad many more banners into this army. I would love the table full of banners and flags.

If any one got a special wish for future units or other anything else please tell.
On the to do list amongst many things is to ad more Azerbajani swordsmen so I can use them in a standard sized unit instead of a small as now.

Egyptian merchant

Here we have a baggage train in the form of a merchant or something simular.
The camel and its handler is from AA miniatures  http://www.aandaminiatures.co.uk/view_product/?p=177

When I painted him I thought I didn´t would have to go back and correct the mistakes of the details of his clothes, particularity the blue dots on the white.
But this close up pictures really shows where I was lazy...
No matter, it will probably never gets noticed on the table, just in these picture.

An while I was at it I took some better pictures of the Arabic heavy cavalry seen in the last post.

Better lights makes difference...

Arabic heavy cavalry

A new small unit of Arabic heavy cavalry.

The miniatures are Conquest Games plastic Normans with heads and some other bits from Gripping Beast plastic Arabic infantry. It works, its far from perfect but it works.

To make the horses look a little more fitting I added some greenstuff and some paper glued on to make horse blankets and so on.

And I added another casualty marker with some free space for a dice.

Sorry for the bad pictures.

Saracen cavalry comparison pictures, Old Glory, Perry miniatures, Gripping Beast, Conquest games, Magister militum.

Saracen cavalry comparison pictures, Old Glory, Perry miniatures, Gripping Beast, Conquest games, Magister militum.

There are never enough of these kind of pictures on the net when you tries to build an army so I thought I should share these with you.

The miniatures are from left to right:
Perry miniatures, unpainted Old Glory Arab Armoured Cavalry, Musketeer miniature,Gripping beast (they use the same horses and are almost exactly sculpt-wise), converter plastic Conquest Games Normans, unpainted Old Glory Ghulams, Magister Militum.

Old Glory got so bad pictures on their website you cant really see what you get so ordering from them was a sort of gamble but I liked them. Its nice to have some more horse sculpts to play with in the units.  So I like the added variety to have something new to paint.

When building a horse heavy army having a bunch of horse sculpts that all look the same could really turn you down.

I like them all except the Magister Militum horses, thats to bad as I really liked their infantry.
