Bedouin Camel Riders for the Crusades

For some time now I have thought about adding more camels to my Saracen force in the Crusader project.
If you think their is hard to find good looking horses finding good looking camels is even harder.

But here I finally have some Bedouin Camel Riders. The miniatures are from Warlord games and are originally intended to be Romans (https://store.warlordgames.com/products/eir-camel-rider-regiment). All I did was to add some plastic arms from the bit box instead and painted them in different colours.
Granted they are a little to well armoured for my liking but they work.

40k battle Imperial guards

Yesterday we had an Imperial guard battle. My friend Marko wanted to borrow my Crassus super heavy transport (transport 35..) to try it out. And I wanted to try out fielding multiples of Storm Chimeras.
Rather quickly I noticed that I had brought the wrong tools for this match, I have so much to learn when it comes to list building. But my biggest mistake was that I didnt play aggressively enough the first turn. All those lascannon wielding Sentinels really psychological hindered my movement the first turn. That hesitance to not throw my men right into the meat grinder at first chance costed my overall game much... Bad Death Korps player bad Death Korps player...

It was a sad sight but I think I have learned some things.
I think the game ended something like 4-16, it really didnt matter. It didnt go to well..

And the driver/controller of the Hades breaching drill will be court-martialed for treason...
At first I was just a bit angry at him  for damaging my commanders Chimera but later when he made the stolen Crassus explode and taking the commanders Chimera and everyone inside out also Im sure that this was more then a mere accident...

UCM - Dropfleet Commander

Here we got what I have been working on the last couple of nights.

A growing fleet of United Colonies of Mankind.

And with all the spare parts you get its a great opportunity to convert some special ships.

First out is my Military salvage ship.
The idea is to have ship with some self-defence and armour that is meant to salvage ship wrecks, help stranded ship crews, deploy military engineering troops on asteroid mining or military installations.
The ship is meant to be able to take some damage while doing its job.

Lots of doors in the front, for quick access to the transport/cargo bays.

The "arms" on each side is meant to be used as some kind of tractor beams.

I havnt decided on a stat line yet but Im thinking something like:

Scan 4"
Sig 6"
Thr 7"
H 6
A 3+ or 4+ (I want this to be a robust ship that can take a beating but I dont want to go over the top).
Pd 3
G 1
T M

It got two UF-2200 Mass driver turrets
And it will need some special rules to make it work.

It is intended for special scenarios.

40k Megabattle

Yesterday we had a megabattle of 40k.

I brought along 1000pts of my Sisters of battle, not much to brag about but thats about what I have painted (or rather repainted to the "new" paintscheme I decided on a couple of years ago) and I have trouble playing with unpainted miniatures.
All in all I think it was around 5000 pts on each side.

My Sisters would support the Imperial Guards and we would be facing renegade: Salamanders and 30k Space Wolves, Space Marines.

It was a really nice game with some tense moments.

These fallen wolves were lead by what we think is an daemon prince.

The renegade Salamander leader placed a large hammer in the front lobe of Sister Superior Ofelia in an challenge...

But after the second round of fighting my Canoness, the Priest and the Battlesisters could take the monster down...

Celebrating behind the large rock, waiting for further marines pushes to our artillery placements.

The large blob of conscripts were reinforced by a Priest, an Commissar and I Psyker that managed to cast Invisibility so even with  horrendous losses they held most of the enemy at bay...

My Sisters had disembarked from their Immolator and captured objective 4, giving us lots of points.

The rampaging Dreadnought charged our Leman Russ tank and even with only one hit in close combat it managed to take it out.

Snipers shot at them, and Terminators charged them and slaughtered them to the last sister but their Immolator transport were still kicking and that meant I was able to contest objectives and thus denying them 3 points. And with the guards denying them points elsewhere the renegades didnt get any points at all this round and they were starting to fall behind pointwise.
And because of that we decided to call it a day.

A victory for the blessed warriors of the Imperium...

Dropfleet Commander - Shaltari fleet

Hawk wargames had a Kikstarter for their Dropfleet Commander game and were able to produce a lot of miniatures in plastic because of it. The kickstarter as kickstarters often do took longer time to ship out to the backers then originally planned.

I wanted to continue with the Shaltaris as I got them in the ground game of Dropzone Commander and to be able to link the armies in future campaigns.
Here we have my fleet at the moment, its the basic recommended starter list with some added extra ships.

Painting wise I continued with my paint scheme from Dropzone Commander. Im not totally happy how they turned out, I miss some of the yellow/orange details from my groundtroops for that added contrast. I have thought about repainting the now green "core" on the ships in yellow/orange but this will do for now. In the next batch of ship I think I will try that.

But enough about that bring on the ships them selves...

Here are some picture taken outdoors for better light.
