Crusade era Sudanese light infantry

I wanted some light infantry for my Sudanese force.

The miniatures are a conversion with Victrix Carthaginian Citizen infantry as a base https://www.victrixlimited.com/collections/carthaginians/products/carthaginian-citizen-infantry

With new shields from Gripping Beast:

The heads are a mixture of original Victrix ones with extra greenstuff and heads designed by Puppetwars
https://puppetswar.eu/models-and-bits-54/all-bits/heads/desert-troopers-heads.html

And some extra greenstuff overall to add some extra details and make the unit more in line of the imagery Im after.

Im really really happy how these turned out. Both the conversions and the muted colours. It have given me a light infantry unit that is really striking and unique.

I painted 16 of them for a unit in Hail Ceasar or removing them for a unit of 12 for Lion Rampant.

The project started long ago as a plan to make Berber infantry but they are instead reused as Sudanese

But I want something with a little armour for the Berber project so that will have to wait a little longer.

Ayyubid Mamluks

Finally... Some historical on this page.

I finished a unit of Mamluk heavy cavalry with bows and spears for my Ayyubid Egyptians.
Some friends have started talking about and showing interest for the Crusades again so it was perfect that I just had brought forward a unit of Mamluks on my painting table.
And now they are finished.

On these I wanted to try out to give them a brown tint, a more muted colour tone but still have a colourful unit. I testet to apply a brownish oilwash on these for just that reason.

In hindsight I see that I should have made a little more effort on the skin, a highlight and some more red into it would have made a difference. But this is just one small unit in a larger army so it will have to do.

Legio Fureans Warhound Titans

While I have a small Questoris Knight House to Adeptus Titanicus I thought I should get a proper Titan Legio as the game is after all called Adeptus Titanicus...

My choice fell on the Legio Fureans, The Tiger Eyes.

I really like their colour scheme and the were deployed in the First battle of Paramar alongside the Alpha Legion that I play in 30k, Horus Heresy.

And here we have some different pictures of the beasts, they didnt turn out as good as I wanted. The light hit the miniatures a little strange I think.

All the weapons have been magnetised so I can swap around.

Alpha Legion Breachers

I think that the breacher unit is a really cool unit and I wanted to try out painting a unit in dark grey, almost black armour. All that is missing is a Swat sign...

I went with a thunderhammer on the sergeant because of rule of cool...
And I wanted the unit to have lascutters for cutting up bulkhead doors in the way... But mostly because its a cool weapon..

So here we have my new breacher squad... with lascutters... So we all know these will be terrible on the gaming table... But no matter, they look cool.

And here are some pictures taken with UV lights, again just because its cool... You might have started to see a theme here by know...
