Sakhra-ye Margo, Parvana Mahrukh System. Horus Heresy campaing game 12 - Warhammer 30k

 

In the dangerous landscape of Sakhra-ye Margo, known for its rocky formations and its arid terrain we will continue the story of the conflict on Parvana Mahrukh.

The Expeditionary Protection Force had spotted an lightly defended fortification on a hill held by a small force from the Eastern Fringe Trading Company. With the forces from both sides spread thin in the Sakhra-ye Margo area larger concentrations of forces have not been seen here.

With the smaller force of the Eastern Fringe Trading Company trapped at the hill-fort a distress call was sent. The overall command mustered its forces and even persuaded forces from an local tribe to assist in the relief. 

My friend Håkan and I would be playing a variant of the old Relief force mission of 40k found in an old Cityfight campaign book.
And for this mission I added a small allied force of militias on my own. In the 3edition rules for Militias they got access to almost all the fun toys I had collected for this force so Im really excited to field them on the table.
We both had an 1500pts force and with Militias and Solar Auxilia this is enough points to actually get a descendent force.

Seen here is a hill with small fortifications upon which the Solar Auxilia makes a stand in hope of an inbound reinforcement.

A small force of the Solar Auxilia composing of two heavy sentinels, two small Lasrifle sections, an Line Command Section and a Dracosan is defending the hillfort.  

The Expeditionary Protection Force starts their assault.

Alotted medics can be seen amongst the men, they will soon have work...

Solar Auxilia Hermes light Sentinels outflanks the enemy.
Their multilaser might not be a big threat to the tanks of the Expeditionary Protection Force but they just might blind the periscopes and visors of those tanks...

One of the Aethon heavy sentinels are seen on fire as the Expeditionary Protection Force closes in on the hill. The number of defenders of the hill is starting to get rather thin...
Those reinforcements will have to pick up the pace... 

More desert warriors align to the Eastern Fringe Trading company are seen outflanking, closing in on the flanks on dirtbikes and a Achilles Ridgerunner. 

We had to stop the game here because of we were running out of time, but damn... This was fun. I havnt played 30k for almost a year by now but I felt we picked up rather quick from were we left.

The conflict on the planet of Parvana Mahrukh prime continues and with a inconclusive result of the battle for the hillfort of Sakhra-ye Margo we will surly return to the rocky landscape in the future. 

Solar Auxilia - Hermes Light Sentinel Squadron

I just love the looks one the Hermes Light Sentinels. 

They are built so I can swap weapons and ammo with magnets or pushfit. I think I will mostly play them with the multilaser for the longer range as these are really really sensitive to return fire.

One of the crewmen is given a cossack head from Puppetwars. The backpack on the other Sentinels back is from Mortianshop
These are really fun models and just bending the legs differently gives them that added variation.
I used some Imperial Guard bits on one of them to get the crewman standing with a binocular looking above the protective armour to get a better view of the area ahead.>

Rulewise I dont like them. Sure they are cheep pointwise but you cant really field them in numbers where they can make an impact with their poor BS and weaponry. Those bases are to big for a weak model like this, they take to much room on the gaming table.

With that said I still love the miniatures, I just dont expect them to do anything on the gaming table.
