Alpha Legion Headhunters

With a new edition of Horus Heresy close by I thought it was high time to finish up these Head Hunters that I have had built and half painted for some time. Now with the last steppes finished I got another 12 painted to the collection.

With the Head Hunter bits as a base and then added a lot of different bits, mostly MkVI armour and bits.

Lord Marshal Dreir leading Deathriders of the Death Korps of Krieg

Here we have the plastic Deathriders for the Death Korps of Krieg with the new special character Lord Marshal Dreir.
I am really really impressed by the new plastic Deathriders. Lots of options, bits and such nice movement in the miniatures.

The old Forgeworld resin miniatures were nice but they were standing still. The new ones larger so it might be hard to interchange them in units, but I have plans to rebase the old ones with raised bases so it would trick the eyes somewhat.

I gave their officer a hackle from a Napoleonic shako from my historical collection of bits... To make hime stand out even more.

I gave one of the riders a drum, also from my Napoleonic bit pile...
I guess his drumming skills might be a bit unappreciated as I think all of these miniatures might have hearing disability, both from their helmets and gas masks but also from all the shelling and livefire from both training and actual combat...
But i like the added fun little detail.

Lord Marshal Dreir him selves.

Death Korps artillery

Here we have a piece of Death Korps of Krieg artillery.
The kit came with a variety of swapable barrels so you can use the one that is most fitting for the task or which one is cooles.

I didnt like the look of the lower gunshield or the sandbags that is supposed to be placed on the sides. They didnt make any sense so I just leaved them of and I think the results looks better this way.

I tried some different colourschemes on the gun platform. Still keeping with the theme but I went with some "wrong" colours, trying gray and yellow. The "wrong" colour choice I really feel capture the ww1 look when they just started to try out camouflage. But after chipping and weathering the colours really tied the modell together and the yellow and gray against brown fitted really good together.
That was a fun experience.

I havnt glued the gun to the base. The reason is so I am able to use it as a terrain or objective piece in games.

All the gun is interchangeable and just snap-fit together.
