Beduin light cavalry

More light cavalry for my Saracen force...

This time its a Beduin unit. I went with a little lighter tones then the Sudanes and added more red. The theme was white, red and light blue.

The miniatures are a mixture of Old Glory metal miniatures with new spears ( I hate bendy metal spears that always bends or snap...), the new spears and the miniatures the unit is mixed with is Gripping Beast plastic light cavalry.
The horses didnt match that good but I hope it will not be to apparent on the table top later on. The sizes of the horses are really notable unfortunately but the rider not so much.
The Old Glory miniatures are really funny and full of character, they are noted as 25mm on their American site and it is unfortunately. Had they been a little larger I would have bought lots more of them.

Crusade era Sudanese light infantry

I wanted some light infantry for my Sudanese force.

The miniatures are a conversion with Victrix Carthaginian Citizen infantry as a base https://www.victrixlimited.com/collections/carthaginians/products/carthaginian-citizen-infantry

With new shields from Gripping Beast:

https://www.grippingbeast.co.uk/SC65_Desert_Frontier_Shields_Rectangle_12--product--4224.html

The heads are a mixture of original Victrix ones with extra greenstuff and heads designed by Puppetwars
https://puppetswar.eu/models-and-bits-54/all-bits/heads/desert-troopers-heads.html

And some extra greenstuff overall to add some extra details and make the unit more in line of the imagery Im after.

Im really really happy how these turned out. Both the conversions and the muted colours. It have given me a light infantry unit that is really striking and unique.

I painted 16 of them for a unit in Hail Ceasar or removing them for a unit of 12 for Lion Rampant.

The project started long ago as a plan to make Berber infantry but they are instead reused as Sudanese

But I want something with a little armour for the Berber project so that will have to wait a little longer.

Crusade, Lion Rampant AAR

My friend Håkan and I dusted of our Crusader project for another game of Lion Rampant... Man Have I missed this game.

We rolled a scenario and it was decided that the Westerners from the County of Tripoli would defend a sacred tomb from a saint.
The forces from the Ayyubid Egyptians was our for an raid and why not topple an old statue when in the neighborhood...

My Ayyubids led by Kareem Sabbagh compromised of mounted Sergeants with bows representing the regular Ayyubid cavalry, some Turkoman horse archers, a small unit of Turkic archers (bidowers) and a unit of Azerbajani swordsmen (Fierce foot).

The troops under the command of Theophile Beacall was compromised a couple of units of "lighter cavalry", Mounted Sergeants, Foot Seargeants and some Crossbowmen.

The defenders of the saints grave.

Troops from the County of Tripoli ready to engage the enemy.

The raiding force from the Ayyubid Egyptians...

The Turkoman horse archers moves through the mountain pass.

Mounten Sergeants in all their glory...

Arrows starts to fly as the mountain sergeants closes in...

After a intense fight, he last mounted sergeant from his unit dueling a lone Turkoman....

And both combatants have had enough and redrews from combat...

The Azerbajjani goes crazy and charges out of the forest...

Theophile Beacall are seen here closest on the picture.

Theophile Beacall pulls back, ready for counter assault...

And charges the Turkomans...

Meanwhile after the initial loosening of arrows the Ayyubids charges in...

Theophile Beacall cleans house...

My lone Turkoman tries to outflank the Tripolitanians and engage the statue from behind...

The Ayyubid cavalry under the command of Kareem Sabbagh loosen a hail of arrows against the crossbowmen.

And the crossbowmen shatters completely...

And a hole in the crusaders line has been opened... Enough for Kareem Sabbagh and his men to ride through...

And the statue of the saint is toppled...

Inshalla... The Ayyubids raiding force under the command of Kareem Sabbagh are victorious...

Theophile Beacall are occupied slaughtering saracens on the flank at the moment...

That was a really really fun and simple game. I had forgotten how good and easy this game really is.

Viking Bondi

Here we have a small unit of Norse Bondi

The miniatures are a mixture of Gripping Beast plastic Dark age warriors, Frostgrave Barbarians and some metal miniatures from a maker I can remember, but I really liked them.

I tested to use cloth on the banner this time. I painted it yellow and then a runic symbol.

The plan is to use them in Hail Caesar or Lion/Dragon Rampant.
