Goliath Truck

Here we have the next units for my desert militia project.
Two armed trucks carrying supplies or troops for my force.

I love this model with all the extra gear I gave them. With all the chippings, weathering and the red desert dust they turned out great.

And together with the technical In the previous post I now got this small mobile force.

 

Desert buggy, Achilles Ridgerunner

 

I have painted a buggy from the Tyranid Cultist line in 40k. I wanted to use it a militia kind of force but mostly I i got it just for the painting of it.
Its a neat model that I really like.
I didnt like the twin heavy stubber that was mounted on the hull so I exchanged it for a pintle mounted variant built from the base of a twin bolter and the barrels from the original heavy stubbers. I like this look far more.

I painted it to fit into a sort of red "marsian" type of dessert theme, with its camouflage and the red road dust.


In 40k I could use it in a force of desert militias using the Tyranid Cultis rules but skipping all the tyranid bits. Its just a smaller side projects so it doesnt need to be tournament competitive good.

In 30k I wants to build a smaller militia list, I havnt found any good rules for it yet. Its to big or rather to well armoured and looks to fast to represent a sentinel. Its to small for a Rhino equivalent type of vehicle and the 8wheeler in the fast attack slot feels also wrong.

But its a fun model and I like the end result.

I painted some other bits for the vehicle if I wanted to change out the equipment on the buggy

Alpha Legion vs Milita, 30k AAR

Håkan and I had a 2500pts game of Horus Heresy.
It feels like ages I played a HH game and it was lots of fun.

I played a Recon Company with Sicaran support that was rather fun.

Recon marines tries to use the ruins as cover as they advances.

The Headhunters closes in on the building full of militias, previusly they had taken out the milita commander, medic and are now picking out special weapons and the command squad lieutenant...
But the militia got fed up on them and gunned them down.

More Recon marines, the militias rearranges their lines in order to protect an objective.

The Destroyers closes in with jump packs...

The charges in slamming the mortals with their jump packs, tossing radiation grenades at the poor militas as they finishes them of with chainswords...

Making something like 23 wounds...
Those poor bastards... Taken to the ground by acute radiation sickening and then a massive armour clad warrior of death slams into you and you pals with fucking chainswords carving up all who stands before them...

The Sicaran Arcus found a nice firing line to the two Leman Russ in the Demolisher squad. And with sixes followed by sixes both tanks exploded. 

The Alpha Legion Recon marines tries to find cover in the ruins to secure an objective.

The butchering by the Destroyers through the militia lines continues...

The not so sane Destroyer Sergeant charged the Leman Russ, putting the jump pack to full effect and slamming the rear of the tank with his face before swinging with his Thunder hammer and inflicting 3 hullpoints on it and takes it out...

The militias was hard pressed in this corner.


Alpha Legion had payed a bloody price for this battle but came out on top.
